Creo initiates and organises events and programming across three key strands: photography, film and contemporary art. Established in 2007 as World Photography Organisation, Creo has since grown in scope, furthering its mission of developing meaningful opportunities for creatives and expanding the reach of its cultural activities. Today, its flagship projects include the Sony World Photography Awards, PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, Photo London and the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards.
Working in partnership with Angus Montgomery Arts, Creo provides support across the group’s ventures, helping to deliver some of the world’s leading art fairs. These include member fairs in The Art Assembly, an affiliation of major international art fairs with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific region.
Creo derives from the Latin ‘creare’: to make, bring forth; in turn related to ‘crescere’: to arise, grow. It is this ethos that sits at the heart of Creo and its activities – the drive to create, to spark ideas, and to encourage growth. Translating directly to ‘I create’, in this spirit Creo sets out to empower and give agency to creative voices.
Creo is built upon four core values that strive to nurture creativity. In all aspects of the organisation, from the ideas we share to the projects we activate, to the people we work with, these pillars remain at the forefront of our thinking:
We initiate and contribute towards meaningful opportunities for those working within the industry.
We instigate connections and form spaces where creative communities can thrive.
We champion outstanding creative work that resonates across cultural boundaries and reaches wide audiences.
We forge partnerships with leading organisations and inspiring individuals to deliver exceptional projects.
