CONTEXT: 

PHOTOFAIRS Hong Kong is the contemporary art fair for photography. The fair’s inaugural edition takes place on March 26-30, 2025 (VIP Preview March 26) at the Central Harbourfront and convenes exhibitors from around the world to present an expansive view of the photographic medium.

PHOTOFAIRS Hong Kong is the destination for photography during the most important art week in Asia, and a vibrant addition to the city’s cultural scene. With a strong curatorial approach the fair explores the landscape of photography and image-making today, from established disciplines to emerging and innovative practices.

PHOTOFAIRS Hong Kong is organized by Creo in partnership with Angus Montgomery Arts (AMA), and in collaboration with Meta Media and Great Entertainment Group (GEG). Representing decades’ worth of experience in the contemporary arts sphere, Creo and its majority shareholder AMA initiate and organize international events and programming with far-reaching roots in the Asia Pacific region. These include PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, which has established itself as the leading platform for photo-based and digital artworks in China since its launch in 2014, and AMA’s market-leading fairs Taipei Dangdai, India Art Fair, ART SG, and Tokyo Gendai.

PURPOSE:

Based in Hong Kong the VIP Executive will work closely with the VIP Manager and Fair Director to implement the VIP campaign and VIP programme for the event. You will support the VIP Manager in managing communication with VIPs, maintaining the VIP database, streamlining processes and reporting, help to organise VIP events and produce relevant materials.

To be successful in this role, you would have an interest in art and culture, be highly organized and detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication both in English and Cantonese is essential. You will be a self-starting, personable, energetic, autonomous and results orientated individual.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Work with the Fair Director and VIP Manager to help implement a VIP programme to drive audience attendance to increase sales on behalf of our exhibitors
• Work with participating galleries to reach VIP targets
• Attend gallery and institution events to increase network
• Work with the VIP Manager to organise VIP events including dinners and parties
• Work with AMA’s Head of Audience of Insights to ensure VIP invites are distributed and targets are met
• Oversee the preparation of VIP materials
• Manage the VIP inbox and be the first point of contact for VIP queries
• Attend weekly team meetings
• Manage effective distribution of VIP materials, both print and online
• Maintain systems and processes that allow the team to carry out and report on campaign
progress and success, including VIP attendance
• Manage and Maintain VIP database
• Manage communications with VIPs through dedicated mailers
• Manage the VIP desk during the Fair

BEHAVIOURS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Fluent in English and Cantonese
• Minimum 2 year relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of the art world would be advantageous
• Excellent business étiquette
